The Open Source Conference Albania (OSCAl) again took place in Tirana last month, and students and Open Source-lovers took the opportunity to try out the new phpList user interface and learn how to manage mailing lists and send them campaigns with help from phpList Pros.
The event had multiple tracks of talks, workshops and of booths for popular Open Source apps including, Firefox, Fedora, and of course phpList! Our booth was easy to detect thanks to a cloud of floating balloons. As well as getting their hands on the latest phpList swag, participants could also learn the basics of using the system in my workshop which was entitled “How to get started with phpList”.
Our booth proved popular, with many visitors keen to find out how the platform worked and how they could profit from it. Many people had little experience with email marketing and were realising its potential for the first time. Those who were already familiar with the app commented on the new user interface: they loved it!
The workshop was held on the first day of the conference, used the new ‘Trevelin‘ theme, and provided an opportunity to try something out features of interest in a relaxed setting suitable for questions and feedback. All those who participated were first-timers, including bloggers who wanted to add phpList to a blog using plugins and signup forms. The workshop was very interactive and at the end we just ran out of time.
Due to the popularity of phpList clothing we organised a raffle to distribute the last six T-shirts and two phpList hoodies. It’s easy to detect phpList lovers in the City! Hopefully future editions of OSCAl will have an even greater phpList presence. Until then, happy mailing!
